OTHER SUPPORTING SCRIPTURES

Romans 2:16

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my GOSPEL.

Romans 16:25

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my GOSPEL, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

Paul teaches that his gospel is the only true gospel; people will be judged by Paul’s gospel, Paul’s gospel has the power to establish people in God.

2 Corinthians 4:4

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious GOSPEL of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The evil one blinds people so that they can not see the light of the gospel.

2 Corinthians 11:4

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another GOSPEL, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Galatians 1:6

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another GOSPEL:

Galatians 1:8

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other GOSPEL unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:9

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other GOSPEL unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Paul makes it clear that there is another gospel which is false; in his context the false gospel will not include a sharing of Christ’s glory and power with Christian believers.

Ephesians 6:19

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the GOSPEL,

Paul’s gospel is a mystery to mankind unless it is revealed by God to them and embraced by believers. μυστήριον (mystērion)   Strong: G3466    - a matter to the knowledge of which initiation is necessary; a secret which would remain such but for revelation,  a concealed power or principle.

Colossians 1:5

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the GOSPEL;

The gospel is the essence of truth.

1 Thessalonians 1:5

For our GOSPEL came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

The words of Paul’s gospel are accompanied with demonstrations of power, the miraculous. Therefore, they cannot be mere doctrine.

1 Timothy 1:11

According to the glorious GOSPEL of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

The gospel is glorious, full of light and fantastic expectations for the future.

2 Timothy 1:10

But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the GOSPEL:

The gospel is glorious precisely because it has illuminated the eternal life that believers have in the resurrection because of the gospel.

1 Peter 1:12

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the GOSPEL unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

The truths of the gospel are not alone; they are accompanied with the person and power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 4:6

For for this cause was the GOSPEL preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Jesus visited the place of the dead after the crucifixion and gave the completed gospel to the Old Testament saints. All mankind is judge to be guilty before God because of sin, but anyone who believes the gospel of Jesus Christ can escape the consequences of sin and death and live forever.
